UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN 70th SESSION

LIST OF PARALLEL EVENTS

Organized in Partnership with the JWF and Global Partners from

The USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Greece, Kenya, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and the UK

9 – 20 March 2026 | New York | In-Person and Online

On the occasion of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 70th Session, the Journalists and Writers Foundation (JWF) is co-organizing 12 panel discussions in partnership with 22 civil society organizations from 9 countries from 9 to 22 March 2026 in New York. At a time of a profound setbacks for gender equality, the JWF continues to build a global momentum of advocating for women`s rights and girls education since 2013 on the sidelines of the UN platforms reaffirming a holistic approach for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality in conjuncture with SDG 16 on establishing peaceful societies and SDG 17 on global partnerships.

The priority theme for the upcoming CSW70 is ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers. According to the Gender Snapshot 2025, “676 million women lived within 50 kilometers of a deadly conflict in 2024”. In conflict-ridden countries, women are encountering disproportionate restrictions due to the curtailment of the rule of law. Failure to consolidate democracy on a global scale stifled another wave of violations, particularly against women human rights defenders and activists.

Centering around this thematic call, the JWF will organize two panel discussions on “Ensuring Women`s Access to Justice and Addressing Structural Barriers” and “Transforming the WPS Agenda from Resolution to Reality” which will convene civil society leaders with UN diplomats and government stakeholders to foster a constructive dialogue on combatting the plummeting status of women`s rights particularly in conflict regions and in countries where the rule of law is in rampant decline.

In addition to these flagship events, the JWF is also supporting its Global Partners from across the world through capacity-building actions that transfer a diplomatic know-how of human rights advocacy strategies at the UN. Across the two weeks of CSW meetings, civil society organizations from various states of the US, Canada, Costa Rica, Greece, Kenya, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and the UK will delve into discussions that unfolds pressing issues of women`s rights and cover various themes that includes youth empowerment for gender justice, women peacemakers, the role of AI in girls empowerment, rights of migrant women, impact of forced displacement on women amongst many other timely agendas.

We invite everyone to join our global community of civil society pioneers at these interactive forums and be part of this advocacy network, advocating for women’s rights and girls’ empowerment during CSW70 from 9 to 20 March 2026 in New York.
